Registration is open for Technical Training for Clerks Session #101 (1.5 IIMC points)

Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27, 2020

9:00 to 10:30 a.m., each morning

Fee: $75  

This 3 hour class will be offered in 2 sessions of 90 minutes each on consecutive mornings, via Zoom. Full attendance at both sessions is required for completion credit. Zoom video ability and a location free from distraction or interruption is required.

TTC #101: Local Government Overview.

TTC #101 is a required session in Series 100 of Technical Training for Clerks Program. It examines historical influences and current trends in local government structure and function, encouraging participants to explore their personal and professional role in enhancing their agency’s ability to provide excellence in service. Topics include: origins and formation of political systems; history and theory of government; constitutional government and representative democracy; comparative government systems; government organization and functioning; legal premises and foundation of government; principles of organization and administration; exploration of how local government works; flow of decision making; differences between government and private sector organization; policy making and implementation process; citizen participation in local government decision making; future trends; intergovernmental relations and operations.
